【關於影展】
第10屆城市遊牧影展
勇於批判的知名導演麥可摩爾都讚賞不已的紀錄電影《WINNEBAGO MAN》、紐約次文化工作室Alleged和塗鴉人、電影導演、展覽者之間的故事《BEAUTIFUL LOSERS》、古根漢幻覺藝術家與樂團Animal Collective聯手衝擊震撼之作《ODDSAC》、北歐最大的搖滾音樂季紀錄片《ROSKILDE》，還有中國當代批判藝術家艾未未專題等，而這些僅僅是2011第10屆城市遊牧影展第一波參展名單！

一年一度的「城市遊牧」系列盛會，精選自美國日舞影展、SXSW等獨立國際電影節，你在電影院看不到的作品，都將在今年的城市遊牧影展大放異彩。第10屆城市遊牧影展將連續舉辦為期10天的放映，每天都有特選紀錄片照亮台北夜空，在有別以往的觀影空間播放現今藝術家最關注的世界脈動，結合台灣與各地創作者的短片入圍觀摩及「城市遊牧獎」競賽，以及每屆都絕不缺少的滑板電影，新鮮、好玩又非傳統的獨特體驗，打開你更寬闊的視野，一起來「城市遊牧影展」認識新朋友，探索電影更多的可能性！

【影展簡介】
「城市遊牧影展 Urban Nomad Film Fest」2002年成立於台北，已一口氣舉辦九年，今年2011年將盛大邁入第10屆。我們支持與鼓勵獨立電影與製片社群，除了組織有別傳統的放映活動，更與鄰近國家作交流。

影展曾經於台北華山藝文特區、寶藏岩、政治大學、台中20號倉庫等藝文空間舉辦放映活動，近年也分別於台北藝術村、南海藝廊和新竹影像博物館放映了上百支影片，並在2008年參與了台北雙年展。

除此之外，我們也舉辦巡迴國際影像藝術展，把來自台灣、中國、香港、印尼、菲力賓、新加坡等世界各國家的影片帶到瑞士巴塞爾、美國邁阿密和香港等國，以影像為媒介與世界居民交流。

獨特的電影放映空間是城市遊牧的特色之一，我們希望除了傳統的「黑盒子」電影院概念（觀眾在鴉雀無聲的戲院內看電影），另類的觀賞空間體驗更能解放觀眾，提供多元雙向的電影溝通的機會。

我們相信，電影不只是一種娛樂，前後左右的觀眾也不需要只是陌生人甲乙丙丁。畢竟，影史上的第一部電影可是在巴黎一間小咖啡館裡放映，人群興奮又恐懼地對著銀幕敲桌大喊呢！

Danny Perez加上Animal Collective，一股迷幻而邪惡的氣息！
獲得紐約古根漢博物館及巴黎龐畢度中心青睞的視覺藝術家Danny Perez，與異種樂隊Animal Collective合作的前衛實驗作品，在2010日舞影展首演，其中Animal Collective量身打造的十三首曲可是別的地方聽不到的，充滿恐怖與奇幻的視覺衝擊，綜合大衛林區與加斯帕諾的黑暗影像美學，令人屏息與錯置。電影帶領著觀眾從黏稠的黑油到詭異的煉獄，甚至到了有山妖洗蛋的林中溪流。雖然音樂型態屬電子原聲－非常有現代感，甚至讓人有種與之共舞的感覺－但核心概念還是回溯到70年代的迷幻音樂，如Pink Floyd的《The Wall》和The Who的《Tommy》。團員Panda Bear說明了電影的概念是「閉著眼聽Animal Collective的音樂時腦中會浮現的影象」。Danny Perez說：「在ODDSAC裡，我能看到全新的東西！」

史上第一部網路爆紅影片的現象紀錄！二十多年前，一個專門販賣旅行車的業務員在練習推銷商品時，嘗試背下一長串推銷經而失敗，開始了荒腔走板又爆笑的行徑。他連珠砲的國罵夾雜商品資訊的精神分裂句子被錄影下來，十幾年後迅速在YouTube上被熱烈傳開，網友將這位業務員封為「史上最憤怒的男人」。紀錄片以這一系列影像和病毒傳播型網路現象（viral videos）為主題，探討影像來源以及它們如何在二十年後深深影響了當年錄影帶中的主角—現已八十歲的退休業務員Jack Rebney根本不知道這些帶子的存在！知名紀錄片導演麥可摩爾愛死了這部片，不僅在美國首映會替本片站台，更大讚本片導演把心中最想說的話誠實傳遞給觀眾，而這世界已經很少有人這麼做了。

長話短說！為了今年的第10屆的城市遊牧影展，咱們要辦個老硬派的趴踢。這將會是我們有史以來最好玩、最搞怪的趴，同時也是個高水準的藝術盛會！
DANNY PEREZ：Animal Collective共同創作 古根漢前衛視覺藝術家
Animal Collective和視覺藝術家Danny Perez的合作是很自然的。Perez本身導演過數部MV，其中包括實驗樂團 Black Dice 和Panda Bear。Danny運用了一貫的DIY精神，揉合原始與前衛科技而創造出一種特有的視覺風格。發行《Animal Collective之異界幻想》以來，他持續與Animal Collective合作，在世界知名的現代藝術館創作裝置藝術，包括紐約古根漢美術館和巴黎龐畢度中心。這次城市遊牧給了Danny四台高輸出投影機和一座空倉庫，他挑選了紐約的藝術搖滾團I.U.D.共同創作本次演出的音樂。
I.U.D.：Gang Gang Dance女主唱&鼓手領軍 紐約怪奇電子雙人組I.U.D
來自紐約布魯克林的前衛實驗樂團。主成員為Gang Gang Dance的Lizzi Bougatzos和Sadie Laska。兩人都是鼓手，也帶進了各式的電子節奏和弦律。以取樣建構樂曲的同時，Lizzi用嘯妖般的高音飆出瘋狂而不可解的歌聲和嘶吼。他們的曲風融合了粗藝術搖滾、工業噪音、以及無浪放克，並曾被與 Boredoms、Front242、和 Butthole Surfers等樂團相比擬。

艾未未專題
即將在今年底受北美館邀請來台展覽的中國當代藝術家艾未未，活躍於建築、策展、攝影、電影，以及社會文化評論。除藝術創作外，還積極參與維護公民合法權益等活動，並對各種腐敗政治勢力和事件進行調查艾未未曾關注並深入調查的事件有：毒奶粉事件，四川汶川地震央因豆腐渣建築工程致死的學生及人數，聲援被迫害的維權人士譚作人等。艾未未曾在其新浪的博客裡陸續公佈了調查到的因地震死亡的具體的學生名單，但這些數據不久後便被管理方刪除。2009年六四事件20週年前夕的5月29日凌晨，艾未未的新浪、搜狐和網易博客同時被徹底關閉。因為其維權行動，艾未未曾受到政府的軟禁和身體傷害。他亦致力通過網際網路跟大眾溝通，特別是中國國內的年輕人。藉由2011城市遊牧影展，觀眾將可從兩部艾未未所執導和參與紀錄片，了解汶川地震調查報告的連續事件，一窺中國敏感議題下的市井小民生活和受到中國政府蒙蔽隱藏的真相。

《花兒為什麼這樣紅》

花兒為什麼這樣紅，是中國的一首禁歌，歌詞充滿火紅、鮮活的生命力，也是艾曉明執導的一部禁片。
本片講述譚作人、艾未未、與另外一部電影《老媽蹄花》的故事。2009年，譚作人起草題為《5.12學生檔案》的倡議書，呼籲民間對汶川大地震遇難學生的校舍工程進行調查。2009年，譚作人以曾經公開發表關於六四事件的文章之罪名被捕，並以「煽動顛覆國家政權罪」判有期徒刑5年。在川震兒童生命凋零之處，繼譚作人被捕之後，批判藝術家艾未未團隊拒絕遺忘，進而要求政府信息公開，承擔責任。當然，還有在鏡頭後面的導演艾曉明，她被迫提早退休、被限制離境，然而手執鏡頭，把公民面對制度暴力的執著記錄下來，見證汶川大地震後面隱藏的歷史惡夢，帶給人民謊言底下真實的力量。

《艾里亞森的光鏡幻影》

《美麗失敗者》

即將在今年底受北美館邀請來台展覽的中國當代藝術家艾未未，活躍於建築、策展、攝影、電影，以及社會文化評論。除藝術創作外，還積極參與維護公民合法權益等活動，並對各種腐敗政治勢力和事件進行調查。艾未未曾關注並深入調查的事件有：毒奶粉事件，四川汶川地震央因豆腐渣建築工程致死的學生及人數，聲援被迫害的維權人士譚作人等。艾未未曾在其新浪的博客裡陸續公佈了調查到的因地震死亡的具體的學生名單，但這些數據不久後便被管理方刪除。2009年六四事件20週年前夕的5月29日凌晨，艾未未的新浪、搜狐和網易博客同時被徹底關閉。因為其維權行動，艾未未曾受到政府的軟禁和身體傷害。他亦致力通過網際網路跟大眾溝通，特別是中國國內的年輕人。藉由2011城市遊牧影展，觀眾將可從兩部艾未未所執導和參與紀錄片，了解汶川地震調查報告的連續事件，一窺中國敏感議題下的市井小民生活和受到中國政府蒙蔽隱藏的真相。

知名中國搖滾歌手左小詛咒特地提供音樂創作給予本片，此紀錄片披露中國藝術家艾未未面對成都執行司法單位的「不合作」態度，起因於2009年3月28日，中國政府以涉嫌「煽動顛覆國家政權罪」而拘留中國作家、維權人士譚作人，艾未未應譚作人律師的邀請在8月12日而出庭作證，卻疑被公安打至腦出血，後經醫生診斷為「重挫造成的外顱與腦體間大面積出血」，並建議立即進行顱創手術。紀錄片充份表現出中國體制下對維權人士的霸治權威，以行政機關如何透過「合作」致使法治崩潰。

A visual album created by Danny Perez and Animal Collective which first debuted at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, later appearing at the Guggenheim Museum and Pompidou Center in Paris. 13 songs are paired with mesmerizing visuals full of terror and fantasy. Maximum visual impact is achieved through compositions featuring dense forests where demons wash ostrich eggs in a creek to sticky black on black compositions made from tar and oil. And then there are the flames which lick the screen and create the sensation of purgatory. Each great band has delivered a concept album such as Pink Floyd's "The Wall" and The Who's "Tommy," and this work is a major milestone for indie rock gods, Animal Collective.

Northern Europe's largest rock music festival has run continuously for 40 years as an orgy of mud, alcohol, drugs, sex, and music! It’s everyone for themselves in this chaotic, volunteer-run festival. But knowing this was a festival doc, we were of course suspicious. We were however relieved to find this is not chop-edited concert footage. There's a real story in here both about the concert's historical development and social function of mass, rock'n'roll-fueled catharsis. Filmed over eight years, Roskilde (the film) captures both everything from weirdos and anarchists to incredible performances by Sonic Youth, Mew, Placebo, Franz Ferdinand, The Streets, Rufus and Martha Wainwright, and the Editors.

A documentary film chronicling the rise of a New York studio that birthed artists from wide range of sectors such as street art, skateboarding, and independent music. Many had no formal arts training nor any aspiration for doing gallery shows, yet somehow, through mutual inspiration and cultural zeitgeist, they quickly caught the eye of both collectors and the general public. Artists featured in this film include Shepard Fairey, the grafitti artist who produced the iconic red, white and blue portrait of US President Barack Obama, and skateboard legends Mark Gonzales and Ed Templeton, along with directors Spike Jonze and Harmony Korine, and graffiti artist Twist (Barry McGee). A fascinating look into the rapid transition of outsider art being accepted by the mainstream.

Once a decade a great skateboarding film comes out, and this stunning visual masterpiece follows the tale of young Walter, who dreams of becoming a skateboarding pro and joining the prestigious Macho Taildrop company. After sending in his gold plated demo tape, he is invited to join this elite fraternity of pros such as his idol Blair Stanley (Rick McCrank). Later, Walter is subject to cruel competition and training, later learning the dark intentions of the company as they play to acquire a dilapidated amusement park that is home to the renegade Man Wolves whose intention is to keep skateboarding pure. A wild romp of a film, and one with a local touch as many scenes were inspired by the director’s brief work and residence in the Hsinchu area.

Ai Weiwei (艾未未) is one of the biggest stars of Chinese contemporary art, famous for smashing a 2000 year old Chinese vase and helping to design Beijing’s famous “bird’s nest” Olympic Stadium. He is currently exhibiting at London’s Tate Modern, has seen major retrospectives of his work over the last two years in Tokyo and Germany, and later this year, he will have a major retrospective at the Taipei Museum of Fine Art. But Ai is also one of China’s most famous social activists, and his Beijing studio is currently under 24-hour surveillance by China’s National Security Bureau. Ai’s activism began with his documentation of the names of children who died in the 2008 Sichuan earthquake, and in 2009, he was severely beaten by Chinese police. This attack was widely covered in the international media, and it came as Ai was about to testify at the trial of activist Tan Zuoren (譚作人), who was also collecting information on the children’s deaths. Urban Nomad will show two films about this incident in an attempt to bring more attention to the social dimension of Ai’s work.

This film has already proven a favorite at indigenous film festivals across the US. It tells the story of Tony Coolidge, who was born in the US, the son of Taiwanese woman and an American GI father he never met. He grew up thinking his mother was Taiwanese, but following her untimely death, he returned to Taiwan to discover that his “Taiwanese” family members are in fact aboriginals of the Atayal tribe. The film is both a personal journey of discovery and an ethnographic document, which interviews 100-year-old village elders who still bare facial tattoos of ancient times. It is also one of the first Western documentaries to take a deep look at Taiwan’s aboriginal cultures and peoples.
