一、競賽宗旨：
「2009第九屆南方影展」即將於今年十一月正式舉行。南方影展為鼓勵華人地區之影像創作，特別設立「南方獎－華人影片競賽」單元，影片類型包括劇情類、紀錄類與動畫類等跨領域創作作品為主要徵件對象，以呈現華語地區多元文化的作者觀點及創意思維，提供給觀眾更寬闊的影像美學與其在地視野。

二、報名資格：
凡華人導演之影像創作皆可報名參加，報名作品需在2008年6月以後完成之作品。
影片類型：劇情片、紀錄片、動畫片。

三、獎勵方式：
1.本影展之競賽類別分為三類：劇情類、紀錄類、動畫類。
2.獎勵種類及金額如下：
（1）南方獎：一名，為本影展不分類首獎，獎給獎座一座、獎金新台幣十萬元。
（2）各類最佳獎：共三名（每類各一），分別獎給獎座一座、獎金新台幣五萬元。
（3）南方新人獎：一名，獎勵入圍作品之新進導演者，獎給獎座一座、獎金新台幣三萬元。
（4）觀眾票選獎：一名，獎給獎座一座、獎金新台幣一萬元。

四、報名方式：
1.報名人須電子郵件報名。
（1）至官方網站下載報名表。
（2）電子郵件寄至southfilmtw@gmail.com，主旨【xx(片名)報名第九屆南方影展競賽類】
2.報名請填妥正本報名表（請務必紙本印出後簽章），並隨函附上以下資料：
（1）參賽影片含中文字幕之DVD（NTSC系統之DVD-Video規格）光碟拷貝 六份，以及含報名資料電子檔光碟一份。
（請先自行確認播放皆無問題，避免拷貝品質不佳或挑片而影響遴選結果。）
（2）影片簡介300字以內（中英文簡介皆須，請附電子檔）。
（3）導演簡介200字以內（中英文簡介皆須，請附電子檔）。
（4）創作理念100字以內（中英文簡介皆須，請附電子檔）。
（5）兩張劇照及導演近期照片（正面清晰）一張（皆請附電子檔）。
（6）若有其他影片宣傳資料請一併附上。
（7）寄件地址：73060台灣台南縣新營市中正路37巷98號 南方影展競賽組收，並於寄件信封上填寫報名者姓名、參賽片名。
※請先行確認欲繳交資料與光碟符合影展規定，不符合上述條件者即取消報名資格。

五、報名截止日期：即日起至2009年6月30日截止（郵戳為憑）。

六、評審方式：
1.評審分初審及複審兩階段。
2.初審分三類，由主辦單位邀請影像專業人士3-5人組成評審委員會初選，入圍名單將於9月下旬公佈。
3.複審另邀請影像專業及文化界人士3-5位組成評審團決定最後得獎項目。

七、注意事項：
1.同一部影片及影片內容不得重複參賽。
2.所有參賽影片之相關資料皆不退還。
3.評審結果未達評審認定標準者，獎項得予以從缺，從缺之獎金額度得移作其他獎項使用。
4.入圍影片需配合影展放映活動及場次安排，影片導演有義務參與主辦單位之相關活動。
5.入圍影片所繳交之播映版本需含繁體中文與英語字幕，放映規格為NTSC系統之Digital Betacam、Betacam、DVCam三種。
6.入圍影片須無償提供本影展宣傳與提供三分鐘預告片宣傳使用，如無則由影展單位擷取。
7.入圍影片之影片相關文字資料、劇照及部分影片內容無償提供南方影展學術研究以及非營利用途使用。
8.主辦單位及策劃執行單位有權保存入圍作品之DVD拷貝版本作為資料存檔。
9.入圍影片之著作權糾紛由作者自行負責，得獎影片若有抄襲、剽竊或侵害他人著作權之情事經法院判決確定者，不予獎勵，已發之獎金、獎座需交還主辦單位。

The 2009, Ninth South Taiwan Film Festival South Award—Chinese Films Competition: Call for Entries

I.The Aim of the Competition:
The 2009, Ninth South Taiwan Film Festival will be held this November. To encourage the Chinese filmmakers, the South Award—Chinese Films Competition has been established. The competition calls for genres such as feature films, documentaries, and animations. It aims to present the filmmakers’ multi-cultural perspectives, original thinking and offers the audience a broader scope of visual aesthetics on Chinese culture around the world.

II.The Qualification of Entries:
Entry is open to any ethnic Chinese filmmaker, and the films should have been finished after June 2008.
Genres: features, documentaries, and animations.

III.Awards and Prizes:
A.The three genres in this competition are feature films, documentaries, and animations.
B.Prizes and Awards are as the following:
1.The South Award/Grand Award: one prize from the three genres, which is the Grand award, and it will be rewarded with a trophy and NTD$100,000.
2.The Best Award from each genre: three prizes (each genre one prize), each prize will be rewarded with a trophy and NTD$50,000.
3.The South New Talented Director: one prize, for encouraging new talented directors, rewarded with a trophy and NTD$30,000.
4.Audience’s Choice Award: one prize, awarded with a trophy and NTD$10,000.

IV.To Submit a Film, You Need To:
A.Register via e-mail.
1.Download the entry form from the official website of South Taiwan Film Festival (www.south.org.tw/south2009).
2.E-mail to southfilmtw@gamil.com with the subject: “the title of the film and entry for the Ninth South Taiwan Film Festival in competition”.
B.Print, fill out and sign the entry form, and send it with the following to the organizers:
1.Submit the film in DVD format with Traditional Chinese subtitles on it (the DVD-Video format of NTSC). Six prints of the DVD are required as well as another disk with the entry materials on it. (Please make sure the DVD can work properly lest the bad screening quality of the DVD leads to a bad result.)
2.A synopsis of the film in 300 words both in English and in Chinese. (Electronic file required).
3.A brief biography of the director in 200 words both in English and in Chinese. (Electronic file required).
4.Describe the idea of making the film in 100 words both in English and in Chinese. (Electronic file required).
5.Provide two stills from the film, and one recent clear frontal shot photo of the director (Electronic files needed).
6.If there’s some information that helps advertize the film, please include it in your package.
7.Send the entry to No.98, Ln. 37, Jhongjheng Rd., Sinying City, Tainan County 73060, Taiwan (R.O.C.). The addressee: South Taiwan Film Festival in Competition. Please state your name and the title of the film on
the envelope.
N.B. Please make sure before hand that the submitted information and the format of the film meet the regulations or the qualification will be disqualified.

V.Entry Deadline: June 30th, 2009 (According to postmark).

VI.Selection Procedure:
A.There will be preliminary selection and final selection.
B.A committee consists of 3 to 5 film industry professionals who will make a nominee list for each award from the three genres. The list will be announced by late September.
C.The final selection will be made by a jury of 3 to 5 experts from the fields of film and culture.

VII.Rules and Regulations:
A.Double submission is not allowed.
B.All the submitted materials can NOT be returned.
C.If all the films in a category cannot meet the standards of the competition, the jury reserves the right not to award the winner of any category. And the un-awarded prize can be appropriated to other awards.
D.All the selected films should cooperate with the activities and the schedule arranged by the organizer, and the directors are obligated to participate in related activities during the festival.
E.All the submitted prints of films should have Traditional Chinese and English subtitles, and the screening formats should be Digital Betacam, Betacam or DVCam of NTSC.
F.The filmmakers should provide the organizers with a three-minute trailer, free of charge for promotional uses. If not, the organizer has the right to extract the clips from the films.
G.The materials, stills and certain parts of the selected films should be provided to the organizers for academic and non-profit uses, free of charge.
H.The host and the organizers of the festival reserve the right to preserve the prints of the selected films in the archives.
I.The filmmaker will take full responsibility for copyright infringement in his/her film. If the selected films are accused of infringement and adjudicated by a court, the films can be deprived of their prizes and trophies. In addition, all the prizes and trophies awarded must be returned to the organizers.
